Later on in the game its generally best to go for a multi-cultural nation and get the intelligentsia bonus for immigration to your country to keep the pop growth train going - unless of course you're playing as a larger nation (~100million by 1900) where its possibly better to just keep the Church bonus of 5% growth as you'll be growing probably 2 million people per year which is plenty.Īlso to add - I've played USA, Russia, Brazil, Prussia, Japan in that order with each running to about 1910-1920 before it gets too laggy so I think I've got a pretty good variety of games played. However - every country I play I don't see a reason not to rush medicine for pop growth, keep the church happy to get the 5% birth increase and prioritize hospitals to get that additional growth. The game is definitely fun - don't get me wrong there. Stellaris at least does a good job having empires that have opposite ideologies really hate each other -here - really doesn't seem like it matter - at least in the Beta. Here the IGs can handled pretty much the same way in every country, and it doesn't really seem like different countries care about what your powerful IGs are vs theirs or vice versa. Yes each country has a different geopolitical situation with different allies/enemies/resources - but that's in most paradox games. I was actually thinking the complete opposite, If you want to play a country optimally then you've got the exact same IG's and pretty much the same laws and institutions to put in place to grow your population as fast as possible. But I am not sure if it will be commercially successful, I worry this will drive new players away. I feel Victoria 3 is way more complex because the same numbers mean different things to different people. I want cheap resources for my industry and I want to starve out the Southern landowners. If I am the US, I want my cotton plantations to be barely profitable. Lets say I am playing Venezuela, I would want my cotton plantations to be super profitable because I am naturally more competitive selling cash crops. I am not sure if they can fix that before launch.Īnother really large problem I feel for the games success is the complexity. It seems that Paradox Interactive's next flagship grand strategy game, Victoria 3, has now been fully leaked and is being actively pirated. I definitely really agree with his points on accessibility. I just watched OPBs video on his thoughts with the PDXCon build. Going between very similar countries can be hugely different because of resource distribution/laws and power balance. I really like the per country content and think its the best paradox has ever done in terms of flavor on release. Do you guys think Victoria 3 will be successful? I have played several hours of the Victoria 3 leak so far.
